It is always recommended to buy a brand name power supply, especially for mid or high end systems (e.g. Seasonic, Silverstone, Corsair, Cooler Master, Antec or Thermaltake)
Generic model power supplies often change plug configuration. It is usually better to get a power supply with the correct number of SATA and IDE power cables which you require (as long as it meets your PCs minimum power\wattage requirements!), but SATA and Molex\IDE adaptors are available if needed, as well as PCI-E power adaptors.
